Google makes Gemini Live camera and screen sharing free for more users

Google has announced that Gemini Live and its most useful tools are now available for free to all Android users. The AI-powered assistant’s camera and screen sharing features were previously only accessible to Gemini Advanced subscribers, but now they will be accessible to everyone.

Expanded Accessibility

Following the recent launch of these features for Gemini Advanced subscribers, Google has decided to make them available to a wider audience. This decision was influenced by the positive feedback received since the recent introduction of Gemini Live to Galaxy S25 users, which offers real-time visual assistance through the camera.

According to Google, the rollout of this feature to free-tier Gemini users has already begun and will continue gradually over the coming weeks. Users on supported devices may already have access to these new features, while others may need to wait a bit longer.

Device Compatibility

It's important to note that not all Android devices will be compatible with Gemini Live. Currently, the feature is supported on the Pixel 9 series, the Galaxy S25 series, and any Pixel phone with at least 2GB of RAM. While this covers a significant portion of users, it is not available on all Android devices.

If you have a compatible device and Gemini already installed, you can access the new camera and screen sharing features by opening the app and tapping the “Live” button at the bottom right corner of the screen. If the feature is active, you will see new camera and screen share icons inside the Live UI; otherwise, you may need to wait for the update to be available.
