Gemini Live — what features are available now and what is coming ...
Google recently announced a new AI product called Gemini Live, which is a native multi-modal AI model with impressive voice and video capabilities, similar to OpenAI's GPT-4o. Gemini Live is part of "Project Astra," a universal AI agent that may eventually be compatible with smart glasses but for now, is available on smartphones.
One of the key features of Gemini 1.5 available to paid Gemini Advanced users is an expanded context window that allows parsing of large documents or summarizing emails. The update also includes improvements to image understanding and the ability to upload various documents into Gemini for summaries, feedback, and answers. 
What to Expect from Gemini Live
Gemini Live will be accessible for Gemini Advanced paid users, offering a two-month free trial before costing $19.99 a month. It will be available on both Android and iOS through the Gemini app, enabling users to engage in 2-way conversations with Gemini via voice interactions.
Users will have the flexibility to speak at their own pace and provide additional information or clarification prompts during conversations. Several voices will be available to choose from, enhancing the user experience. 
One exciting upcoming feature of Gemini Live is its Google Lens-like capability, allowing users to utilize their phone's camera for Gemini to provide feedback and answers based on real-world visuals.
Availability
While Gemini Live isn't immediately available, Google's blog post suggests it will be rolled out in the "coming months," with a tweet hinting at a possible release "this summer." However, it is more realistic to expect the launch to be in late July at the earliest. Additionally, the camera feature may not be available until "later this year," indicating a fall update.
For those eagerly awaiting Gemini Live's availability, the timeline remains uncertain, with the only indication being "the near future." Stay updated for potential access between 2024 and the following year.
