Push to Develop AI in Chinese Universities
Chinese universities are ramping up their efforts to develop talent in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Tsinghua University in Beijing, for example, has announced plans to enroll 150 undergraduate students in a new academy focused on integrating AI with other disciplines. This initiative aims to align with the country's strategic goals and societal development.

A Tsinghua spokesperson highlighted the university's commitment to allocate resources and enhance faculty to support the success of this project. Currently, Tsinghua is already utilizing AI-assisted teaching in a pilot program spanning 117 courses, providing students with access to an AI learning assistant. The university also intends to introduce 38 additional general courses related to AI in the future.
Expansion of AI Courses
Hangzhou Dianzi University in Zhejiang province is also embracing the AI trend by introducing a new course titled "AI in Practice: Mastering DeepSeek" this semester. The course has garnered significant interest, with oversubscription reported across 12 higher education institutions in China. This underlines the growing demand for practical AI education in the country.

As Chinese universities continue to prioritize AI education and research, the landscape of higher education is rapidly evolving to meet the demands of the digital age. It is evident that AI is playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of academia and industry in China.
