My Experiments with ChatGPT and Claude – Parallel Spirals
In January 2025, I delved into contemplating the potential job eliminations by Artificial Intelligence (AI). During this time, a buzz circulated about the booming success of astrology apps, contrasting the gloomy outlook elsewhere. These apps featured astrologers engaging in chats or calls for a fee charged per minute. Renowned astrologers reportedly commanded more than INR 10,000 for 3 readings, escalating with their fame.
Intrigued by the buzz surrounding Claude, I decided to test it as a tool for note-taking. I provided Claude with the two text files from ChatGPT and requested a comparison, seeking the distinctions between the documents. Impressively, Claude accurately identified the first document's general nature and the second document's specifics, featuring timelines and situational responses.
Curious, I turned to ChatGPT to generate my Vedic astrology birth chart. While the initial chart closely resembled those from online calculators, a setback occurred when a dependent python module failure temporarily halted the chart generation. Fortunately, the issue was later resolved.
Following a hiatus in February due to a surgery, I resumed my experiments with ChatGPT during my recovery. Engaging in two extensive conversations based on specific prompts, I saved the responses in text files for further analysis.
Exploring Astrology with ChatGPT
Upon the failure of the birth chart creator, I resorted to online software to obtain my planetary positions at birth and inputted the data into ChatGPT. I proceeded to ask ChatGPT questions akin to consulting an astrologer, occasionally correcting misinterpretations in its readings.
Requesting a summary and the top three highlights from the predictions and suggestions in the documents, Claude's performance was reasonable but not exhaustive. It's noteworthy that these experiments were conducted using the free versions of the respective models.
Insights into Astrology Practices
Throughout these experiments, I gained intriguing insights into astrology and its diverse applications. While North Indians utilize astrology for career forecasts, relationship insights, and health perspectives, individuals in South India, particularly in Kerala, turn to astrology for addressing immediate life challenges.
Reflecting on my experiences with ChatGPT and Claude, I found the use case of ChatGPT more appealing. However, I remain intrigued by Claude's potential in streamlining note-making processes. Yet, I acknowledge that interpreting nuances within extensive text still requires human intervention.
