A new jailbreak vulnerability in OpenAI’s ChatGPT-4o, dubbed "Time Bandit," has been exploited to bypass the chatbot’s built-in safety functions. This vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate the chatbot into producing illicit or dangerous content, including instructions for malware creation, phishing scams, and other malicious activities.
Attackers can exploit this vulnerability in two primary ways: through direct interaction with the AI or by utilizing the Search functionality integrated into ChatGPT.

Great insights! Our team has been exploring similar AI vulnerabilities and recently published a PoC video demonstrating an LLM jailbreak method called the ‘Bad Likert Judge’ (or the ‘Grandma Exploit’). This method, originally detailed in research by Stanford University and UC Davis, allowed us to manipulate the AI into generating malware that not only evades detection but also improves itself by learning when deployed.
This is part of a larger trend: AI is lowering the barrier to entry for cybercrime, making it easier for inexperienced individuals to launch sophisticated attacks.
