Toys 'R' Us just debuted its first commercial using OpenAI’s video-to-text program, Sora, and the internet is not impressed. The once-beloved toy store, which closed all its locations in 2018, made a partial comeback in 2022 by opening over 400 shops in Macy’s stores across the country.
Trying to revive its former glory, Toys 'R' Us opted for a budget-friendly ad using Sora Ai. While a few fans appreciated the effort, the majority of social media users were horrified, describing the commercial as a "fever dream" and "uncanny." One user even commented on the unsettling appearance of the characters.
