Meta AI rolls out in India days after Google launched Gemini app in...
StoryMeta has recently announced that its artificial intelligence, Meta AI, is now rolling out and will be accessible to all Indian users. This AI will be available in English across various Meta platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. The launch of Meta AI in India comes after its introduction in countries like Australia, Canada, and New Zealand a few months ago. This development follows the recent launch of Google's Gemini app in India just a week prior.
Features of Meta AI
Similar to other AI assistants, Meta AI is designed to assist with everyday tasks like writing emails, summarizing texts, translations, and more. While the official announcement states that Meta AI will be available starting today, it appears to be a gradual roll-out as indicated on the Meta AI website, which currently displays a message stating, "Meta AI isn’t available yet in your country." This hints at a phased release of the AI assistant to users.
Meta AI's chatbot functionality is already operational in over 12 countries, including the United States, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. Once fully rolled out, users in India will also be able to access the AI assistant through Meta's website.
Utilizing Meta AI
The primary objective of Meta AI is to simplify tasks for users by offering a general-purpose assistant that can answer queries, provide real-time information from sources like Google and Microsoft's Bing, generate text and images, summarize lengthy texts, and perform writing duties. Users can engage with the chatbot directly in their personal and group chats on WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger for advice or inquiries.
Moreover, Meta AI introduces cutting-edge image generation technology to enhance user creativity, enabling the creation of animations and other visual content. The integration of Meta AI into the search bars of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger ensures seamless access for users seeking assistance.
Google's Gemini App in India
Prior to Meta AI's debut in India, Google launched its Gemini mobile app, offering support for multiple languages including English and nine Indian languages like Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The Gemini app aims to cater to India's diverse linguistic landscape and enhance accessibility for users to accomplish tasks such as event planning, recipe creation, and social media caption writing through text, voice, or image inputs.
