Honor chief advocates open AI alliance - Mobile World Live
During the Mobile World Congress Shanghai in 2025, Honor CEO James Li emphasized the importance of establishing an open AI ecosystem. He proposed the creation of an end-to-end alliance similar to the GSMA’s Open Gateway platform. This alliance would unite all stakeholders to develop standardized protocols and innovate new business models.
Li highlighted the necessity for companies to collaborate within an ecosystem to address the evolving demands of customers effectively. He mentioned that Honor's mobile devices are uniquely capable of connecting to both Huawei and Apple’s operating systems, as well as with other brands for seamless data transfer.

The evolution of AI
Li discussed the significance of AI in modern technology, outlining the five levels of AI development. He indicated that the industry is currently positioned between levels L2 and L3, transitioning from ideation to implementation.
To integrate AI effectively into daily life, Li emphasized the need to tackle challenges such as breaking down information silos and establishing an open API infrastructure for a cohesive ecosystem. He also touched upon the long-term evolution towards artificial general intelligence (AGI), predicting varying timelines from five years to two decades as estimated by experts.

Future innovations
Teasing an upcoming launch, Li announced the release of Honor's fifth generation foldable Magic smartphone, the Magic V5, scheduled for 2 July. He touted the Magic V5 as the thinnest foldable flagship model available in the market.
