Small Language Models and Multi-Agent Frameworks: The Next Frontier for Infosys

Infosys is Finally Building Small Language Models and Multi-Agent Frameworks

After emphasizing its dedication to generative AI in the previous quarter, Infosys has yet again reiterated its commitment to this technology in its latest Q2 FY25 results. While the company did not disclose specific revenue figures related to generative AI, there are exciting developments in the pipeline.

Small Language Models

Infosys has recently disclosed its work on small language models designed for various applications to benefit its clients. This approach combines open-source components like Llama, Mistral, Phi, and Gemma with a narrow set of industry data and Infosys' proprietary dataset. Additionally, India's very own small language model, Sarvam 2B, is part of this initiative.

Multi-Agent Frameworks

Infosys is also venturing into building a multi-agent framework that enables agents to autonomously handle specific business processes. This innovative approach is reshaping the way clients operate, allowing for more efficient scalability through automation of key processes.

According to Infosys CEO and MD Salil Parekh, the implementation of generative AI technologies like small language models and multi-agent frameworks is already showing promising results. These technologies are not limited to specific sectors but are being integrated across various industries, driving productivity gains and transforming operational efficiency.

Financial Performance and Growth

In its Q2 FY25 results, Infosys reported a 2.2% quarter-on-quarter increase in net profit, reaching Rs 6,506 crore. The company's revenue for the July-September period grew by 4.2% compared to the previous quarter, amounting to Rs 40,986 crore. Infosys raised its full-year revenue growth guidance and highlighted the significance of its generative AI projects in driving market preference and client partnerships.

Applied Artificial Intelligence Solutions | Infosys

Infosys remains committed to talent development and plans to onboard 15,000 to 20,000 freshers in FY25. The company's collaborations with Global Capability Centers (GCCs) in India, particularly in industries like telecommunications and life sciences, underscore its efforts to support client operations and scale their capabilities.
