My dream is to create a world where more people can benefit from 'basic income' and do what they want
OpenAI founder and CEO Sam Altman made an announcement at the world's first official event, "A New World," held in San Francisco. Altman, as a co-founder of WorldCoin, introduced a foundation called Tools for Humanity (TFH) with Alex Blania. TFH created World Coin, a virtual currency aimed at providing basic income guarantees in the AI era.
World Coin uses iris recognition to differentiate between AI and real individuals, rewarding verified human users with world coins. TFH has implemented iris recognition devices called 'Of' in various countries and is developing a blockchain-based 'WorldID' to securely identify individuals.
Users can create a "World App" to store their world coins in a virtual asset wallet. Altman shared his personal experience at the event, highlighting the importance of basic income. He emphasized how receiving financial support during his early entrepreneurial days enabled him to focus on his startup, ultimately benefiting both himself and society.
Increasing World Coin Users
Altman believes that a significant increase in world coin users is essential to realize his basic income vision. By expanding the user base globally, he aims to create a platform where everyone can benefit from basic income.
TFH also announced the introduction of a new authentication method called 'passport' to enhance World Coin's accessibility. This method allows users to receive a World ID by storing an electronic passport in the World App, leading to the issuance of coins.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, TFH intends to rebrand WorldCoin as 'World' and launch its own blockchain platform called 'World Chain.' This platform will enable users to manage their digital identities directly on the blockchain, further enhancing accessibility and security.
Altman envisions a future where technology serves as a critical infrastructure for societal progress. He sees the current technological revolution as an opportunity to create positive change on a global scale.
