New York Times Agrees to License Content to Amazon for AI Use ...
This is very smart from The NYT. Now it has a commercial deal with Amazon, it can prove tech firms will pay for its content. This proves that a market exists, and proves OpenAI taking its content commercially disadvantaged The NYT. OpenAI now faces a bigger fine, or must do a deal as good or better than Amazon’s. And if I were the NYT I would bleed OpenAI on price all the way to Mars, because… If OpenAI doesn’t pay, and it loses in court, that precedent will empower every content provider on the web to sue in copycat actions.
Interesting deal, and I agree, very smart from NYT. Should show media companies they can assert strategic control in the AI economy. As AI develops, the ethical sourcing of content is only going to grow in importance.

This is very clever...especially as they are suing Open AI for infringement. This sets a precedent that they are willing to work and have a model counter to Open AI's.
Such an interesting deal. Tech platforms pay for content to keep their users engaged where they already are. Publishers, when the terms are right, are willing to have their content shared on channels they don’t own, as long as they can maintain control over how it's presented.

Such an interesting move. Just damn well pay for the content...fascinating to see what happens next.
I agree with the subversives of this strategy. I hope it works. Ideally would like to have seen the deal not be with the vampiric monolith Amazon, but “enemy of my enemy” etc etc
