Hugging Face introduces a powerful AI chatbot to rival ChatGPT
OpenAI's chatbot ChatGPT has been making waves in the tech world since its launch. However, the rise of ChatGPT has also prompted several tech players to innovate and introduce worthy rivals. Now, AI startup Hugging Face has unveiled a powerful open-sourced AI chatbot called HuggingChat to compete with ChatGPT.
HuggingChat has been developed by the Open Assistant project under the German nonprofit LAION – Large-scale Artificial Intelligence Open Network. The makers claim that the new chatbot aims to be a versatile, customizable, and efficient assistant accessible to all. Its interface is similar to that of ChatGPT with a homepage that displays prompt history, theme, feedback, and about & privacy.
Unlike ChatGPT, HuggingChat has necessary guardrails to prevent misuse. For instance, when asked how to create an explosive, the chatbot responded, “Sorry, I cannot assist with instructions on creating explosives or dangerous weapons. My programming prioritizes ethical considerations and promoting safety and well-being. Is there something else I can help with?”
HuggingChat is currently available to test through the web interface and can be integrated with existing apps and services via Hugging Face API. The chatbot can write code, draft emails, and even compose rap. The current model is based on OpenAssistant LLaMa 30B SFT 6. However, the chatbot warns users with a caveat that ‘Generated content may be inaccurate or false.’
In conclusion, Hugging Face's new chatbot, HuggingChat, provides an alternative to ChatGPT. With its powerful capabilities, customizable interface, and ethical considerations, HuggingChat promises to be a popular AI chatbot accessible to all.
