Recognition at Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Global Summit

Image Linklaters has been recognized as one of the world’s most innovative law firms at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Global Summit. This recognition acknowledges standout firms and individuals over the past 20 years of the FT Innovative Lawyer series.

Sophie Mathur, Corporate Partner at Linklaters, has also been ranked among the Top 20 most innovative lawyers from the past two decades. She was singled out for her work as the co-head of Linklaters’ Innovation Group and for her pioneering exploration of potential new technologies and ways of working.

George Casey, Linklaters Global Chairman of Corporate and Chairman of the Americas, is featured in the FT’s Innovative Lawyers report both as a practitioner and a law professor at a leading US law school. George shares insights on the skills necessary to future-proof a legal career, Linklaters’ comprehensive training programs on generative AI, and his personal experience in teaching law students and training lawyers in new technologies.

Embracing Technology in Legal Practice

George emphasizes the importance of understanding how large language models work as a crucial requirement for future lawyers. As the legal industry increasingly demands a combination of legal expertise, business acumen, and technological skills, lawyers are expected to leverage their judgment in overseeing AI-driven processes with their soft skills.

The FT noted George's plans to demonstrate Open AI’s new ChatGPT 03 model, which handles complex US securities law analysis, to his students at the University of Pennsylvania. This initiative aims to train lawyers in new technologies and facilitate real-world adoption.

The FT quoted George as saying: Linklaters has a long history of innovation and has been at the forefront of technology development and adoption. The firm embeds an innovative mindset throughout its global practices, enabling the delivery of innovative and solutions-oriented services to clients.
