Designating 2024 as the "Year of AI," The University of Texas at Austin witnessed a significant surge in its efforts related to artificial intelligence research, education, and service. UT Austin has been a pioneer in AI research for over five decades, with a commitment to spearheading advancements in AI, machine learning, and robotics to address critical societal challenges.
Record-breaking Research Initiatives
The University secured a groundbreaking $457 million award from the NSF to establish TACC’s new Leadership Class Computing Facility, a state-of-the-art machine. Additionally, UT became home to two NSF AI Institutes and launched the NSF Expeditions in Computing project.
