YouTube and TikTok most used by young Portuguese - The Portugal News
A new report by Kaspersky has revealed that YouTube and TikTok are the most used apps by young Portuguese people.
The annual report, which aims to analyse the digital interests of young people, reveals a growing fascination with AI-powered 'chatbots', the viral rise of Italian 'brainrot' memes and a growing attention to Sprunki. Despite this, the statement says, YouTube continues to be the most popular app among children worldwide (29.77%), as well as in Portugal (27.28%). TikTok is the app that ranks second in Portugal (15.05%), a detail that differs from the data at a global level, where WhatsApp ranks second.

"Children are interacting more than ever with new technologies. Recent studies indicate that children aged 8 to 10 spend, on average, six hours a day on screens, while pre-teens (aged 11 to 14) spend, on average, around nine hours a day," the document also states, highlighting the importance of parents understanding "what content captures their children's attention in the digital space and what content they are looking for".
