ChatGPT: The Future of Humanlike Writing Style

U-M AI Experts Share ChatGPT Lessons with Ann Arbor Community

U-M’s Artificial Intelligence Laboratory recently hosted an interactive discussion on ChatGPT, a new writing software that has been making waves in the tech world. The discussion was led by Michigan AI Lab Director, Rada Mihalcea, who shared both the benefits and limitations of using ChatGPT.

The Benefits of ChatGPT

One of the biggest advantages of ChatGPT is its humanlike writing style. This is made possible by its broad database, which allows the software to reference a wide range of background information. Additionally, ChatGPT has been programmed to avoid any use of racial or offensive language, making it a safe option for many users.

The Limitations of ChatGPT

While ChatGPT offers many benefits, it also comes with its share of limitations. According to Mihalcea, there is no way to confirm if the information provided by ChatGPT is accurate. Since the software offers no links, users are unable to verify the validity of the information provided. Additionally, ChatGPT has a tendency to provide "hallucinatory" information confidently, which can be misleading for users.

The ChatGPT interactive discussion was open to both children and adults and was held at the downtown Ann Arbor District Library branch. The event was free to attend and provided valuable insights into the potential of this new writing software.
