A Web3 First: China Leverages Cross-Border AI Data For Industrial Applications
In a groundbreaking move, China's Shenzhen Data Exchange (SDEx) has paved the way for the integration of decentralized, community-sourced AI data into real industrial scenarios using Web3 infrastructure. Serving as the primary national-level data trading platform in China, SDEx enables data marketization and cross-border circulation within the country's digital economy. The platform offers a wide range of services, including compliance protection, circulation support, supply and demand connections, and ecological development, streamlining data trading for businesses and consumers.
Breaking Down the Data Challenge in AI
As the global AI industry faces a looming bottleneck due to data scarcity, sourcing high-quality training data has become a pressing issue across various sectors. Traditional centralized data collection methods are inherently limited, highlighting the need for innovative solutions to address this challenge.
Recently, SDEx facilitated a commercial agreement between Shenzhen Intellifusion Technologies, a prominent Chinese AI company, and OORT, a decentralized AI solution provider. Intellifusion sought industry-specific AI solutions to enhance its smart factory operations, necessitating access to specialized industrial datasets. OORT's product solution, OORT DataHub, enabled the collection of this data by leveraging a global community spread across over 130 countries. Participants could contribute data and earn crypto incentives, showcasing the efficacy of decentralized data collection on a global scale.
Pioneering a Decentralized Approach to Data Collection
While platforms like Amazon's AWS Data Exchange (ADX) exist, they are not without limitations that hinder the progression of AI on a global scale. In this context, the emergence of Decentralized AI (DeAI) alliances presents a promising path toward a more open and collaborative AI ecosystem.
One notable initiative is HumanAIx, a coalition of 13 Web3 entities, including OORT, YGG, NEO, and io.net. This alliance introduced an open protocol aimed at seamlessly connecting partners to establish a permissionless, scalable, and verifiable decentralized AI infrastructure. The three-layer architecture of HumanAIx focuses on interface, protocol integration, and security, leveraging industry expertise to foster innovation in the DeAI space.
Simultaneously, the Open Agents Alliance (OAA), comprising Web3 leaders like NEAR, Aethir, and Coinbase, works towards ensuring secure, open-source, economical, and fair AI access, marking a significant step in democratizing AI technologies.
