FTC Sues Uber
This week, the Federal Trade Commission is suing Uber over its subscription service. The FTC Takes Action Against Uber for Deceptive Billing and Cancellation Practices. The FTC alleges that Uber engaged in deceptive billing and cancellation practices. Read more
OpenAI's Troubles
OpenAI, the maker of ChatGPT, is facing challenges as it looks to restructure as a for-profit entity. The company, founded as a nonprofit research lab, is now seeking to become a public benefit corporation. However, this transformation is meeting resistance. About 10 former Open AI employees, along with several Nobel laureates and other experts, have written an open letter opposing the change. They argue that nonprofit control is essential to Open AI's mission of ensuring that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity. Read more
