In a groundbreaking collaboration, OpenAI has announced its intention to construct a large-scale computing facility in the United Arab Emirates. This initiative stems from an agreement between the Gulf nation and the former Trump administration, falling under the umbrella of OpenAI for Countries.
The revelation of the UAE's partnership with OpenAI has set off a wave of interest and speculation online. Reports surfaced suggesting that as part of this collaboration, all residents of the UAE would receive complimentary access to ChatGPT Plus, the premium iteration of the widely-used AI tool.
The Details of the Partnership
According to a statement released by OpenAI, this new venture entails the establishment of a Stargate UAE cluster in Abu Dhabi, slated to become operational by 2026. Additionally, the UAE will be investing in the US Stargate infrastructure. This upcoming facility will be a collaborative effort involving Oracle, Nvidia, SoftBank, Cisco, and G42, an Emirati AI company.
