For example, Search detected an increase in scammers impersonating airline customer service providers, resulting in an over 80 percent reduction in such scams in Search.
AI in Google Chrome
Google Chrome has enhanced the Enhanced Protection mode of Safe Browsing by leveraging the on-device Gemini Nano AI model. This model adds an extra layer of protection by detecting potential phishing sites and taking action on them. Even previously unseen scams can be detected by Gemini Nano, providing advanced security to users.
AI in Android
While Google is working to expand protection to Android devices for various scams in the future, Google Chrome on Android already features a new capability to shield users from malicious website-based notifications. If a notification from a website is flagged as a potential scam, users will see a warning message labeled “Potential scam detected” with options to unsubscribe or view the notification.
If users wish to verify the blocked content or allow future notifications from the website, they have the flexibility to do so.
