Greg Brockman, co-founder and president of OpenAI, returned to the company after a long vacation
Greg Brockman, the co-founder and president of OpenAI, has made an early return to the company following an extended vacation. He took to his X account on the 12th to announce, "The longest vacation of my life has ended. We're back to build OpenAI again." Originally planning to return by the end of the year, Brockman's return comes about a month ahead of schedule.
Changes at OpenAI
During Brockman's absence, OpenAI experienced significant changes within its leadership team. The Chief Technology Officer, Mira Murati, Head of Research, Bob McGraw, and Vice President of Research, Barrett Joff, all resigned. Additionally, Lillian Wong, the Vice President of Research and Safety at OpenAI, revealed plans to depart the company. Earlier in the year, co-founder Ilya Sutskeber, former Head of Safety Jan Lycke, and co-founder John Schulman also left the company.
Greg Brockman's Role
Greg Brockman played a pivotal role in the founding of OpenAI alongside Elon Musk and Sam Altman in 2015. He is highly regarded within the company for his exceptional skills in development and talent acquisition.
Brockman recently visited Korea on the 4th of the month to attend SK Group's 'SK AI Summit'. This visit marked his final official engagement before returning to OpenAI. He is married to a Korean wife, has visited Korea multiple times in the past, and is well-connected within the OpenAI community.
