YouTube is testing an integration with Google Gemini to help creators brainstorm video ideas, titles, and thumbnails. The Google-owned company announced the launch of the new Brainstorm with Gemini feature in a video posted to its Creator Insider channel.
Experimenting with AI Integration
A YouTube spokesperson informed TechCrunch that the feature is currently available to select creators as part of a small-scale, limited experiment. YouTube will assess feedback from creators to determine whether to expand the feature more widely.
The integration of Google Gemini could give YouTube a competitive advantage over other social media video platforms, providing creators with unique capabilities not found on competing platforms. By incorporating AI into its video platform, Google aims to incentivize creators to utilize its AI tools, distinguishing itself from platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
Brainstorm with Gemini Feature
The Brainstorm with Gemini feature is akin to another AI tool previously introduced by YouTube in May, an AI-powered content inspiration tool. This tool generates video topic ideas based on audience interest and creates an outline of talking points to kickstart the content creation process.
With Gemini, creators now have the option to leverage AI large language models used in various Google products. YouTube perceives this addition as a means to gauge creators' preferences between the existing inspiration tool, the Gemini integration, or a combination of both for content assistance.
In the experiment, creators accessing YouTube Studio can input a video idea into the search bar and be presented with two options: the inspiration tool and the Brainstorm with Gemini feature. While the inspiration tool aids in developing video ideas, YouTube seeks to determine the effectiveness of combining this tool with the Gemini feature for brainstorming.
Focus on Content Creation
While platforms like TikTok and Instagram are exploring generative AI for creating digital representations of creators, YouTube is concentrating on utilizing technology to assist creators in content development.
