Ethereum Founder Vitalik Buterin Sees Potential In ChatGPT And AI
Ethereum founder, Vitalik Buterin, recently shared his experience with OpenAI’s ChatGPT 3.5 in a blog post. ChatGPT is an AI-powered chatbot that has become renowned for its easy interface and expertise in several skills, ranging from programming to research. Buterin used ChatGPT to solve real-world problems, and he was impressed with the chatbot’s ability to teach him about online libraries and application programming interfaces (API) that he had never used before.
According to the blog post, Buterin asked ChatGPT how to write a script that would compute the expected public transit time between two given GPS coordinates. ChatGPT responded by providing examples of the desired script and datasets to fine-tune the query. The chatbot also compiled and shared links to additional resources that would help with the question.
After Buterin input additional details and fine-tuned his queries, ChatGPT provided him with a scatter plot of time-distance pairs to optimize the travel time of public transportation. The chatbot also provided a script to interpret location data from online resources. Buterin was surprised to see that “there is a surprisingly precise relationship governing travel time from point A to point B that somehow holds across such radically different transit media as walking, subways and buses, airplanes and (!!) interplanetary and hypothetical interstellar spacecraft.”
Buterin concluded that ChatGPT reduces the barrier to entry between amateurs and professionals. He sees potential in the chatbot and AI in general.
