A federal judge in Oakland enjoined Open Artificial Intelligence, stylized as Open AI, from using the company name in commerce, ruling in February that a space between the words did not clear up marketplace confusion.
A federal judge in Oakland handed OpenAI Inc. a win in its trademark infringement and false advertising dispute with an almost identically named company as the court held that "personal squabbles" between the ChatGPT developer and Open Artificial Intelligence Inc. extraneously fueled the litigation. Represented by Waymaker LLP, Open Artificial Intelligence and its founder, Guy Ravine, "spill much proverbial ink pontificating about their view on artificial intelligence."
