Understanding Deep Research in ChatGPT
Deep research in ChatGPT is a cutting-edge capability that allows users to conduct in-depth research by leveraging internet resources. This functionality is akin to Google's Deep Research feature, offering users a personalized assistant to swiftly acquire expertise on any given topic.
OpenAI's deep research is powered by the o3 version, its latest and highest-ranked model according to LiveBench, a benchmark for LLMs. This model is designed to navigate the web, gather data, and generate comprehensive reports based on user queries. Essentially, it functions like a professional researcher, compiling information from various sources and providing well-sourced reports in return.
Key Features and Updates
Initially exclusive to Pro plan users, the deep research feature now extends to ChatGPT Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers. Users can now conduct up to 120 research queries per month, up from the previous limit of 100. While OpenAI suggests that a research task can take anywhere from 5 to 30 minutes to complete, some users have reported longer durations. Moreover, the feature demands significant computational resources, with more complex queries requiring additional processing time.
