Hong Kong is testing out its own ChatGPT-style tool as OpenAI...
Hong Kong’s innovation minister has revealed that the government is currently in the process of testing its own ChatGPT-style tool for its employees. The ultimate goal is to make this tool accessible to the general public. This decision came after OpenAI implemented measures to prevent access from unsupported regions, such as China.
The ChatGPT-style program was created by a generative AI research and development center, which is spearheaded by a prominent university in Hong Kong. This initiative falls under the umbrella of a government-led innovation program. The extent to which this new model will match the capabilities of ChatGPT remains somewhat uncertain at this stage.
It is worth noting that major Chinese tech companies like Alibaba and Baidu have their own AI models in the Chinese language. However, these models are required to adhere to China’s strict censorship regulations.
