Meta AI bot used a billion times monthly: Mark Zuckerberg
Meta chief Mark Zuckerberg has highlighted the widespread use of the tech firm's generative artificial intelligence (Gen AI) assistant, revealing that it is utilized by a billion people every month across Meta's platforms.
Zuckerberg made this announcement during Meta's annual gathering of shareholders, emphasizing the company's position in the competitive landscape alongside tech giants like Google, Microsoft, and OpenAI.
While the exact breakdown between active users seeking out the chatbot and passive users who encounter Meta AI through its integrated features remains unclear, the sheer scale of adoption is significant.
Google, for instance, has similarly seen success with its AI Overviews feature in search results, attracting over 1.5 billion users. This functionality provides users with automatic summaries of search results, moving away from traditional blue link listings.
Despite challenges related to misinformation and business models, tech companies are forging ahead with AI innovations. Meta, in particular, released its standalone AI assistant app to provide users with direct access to Gen AI models.
Zuckerberg described the app as a personalized AI that primarily operates through voice interactions tailored to individual users. Meta's CFO Susan Li noted that the use of Meta AI is experiencing rapid growth, especially on WhatsApp.
As Meta continues to enhance the AI experience, Zuckerberg envisions Meta AI becoming the leading personal AI platform. The company's ongoing dedication to advancing AI technologies underscores its commitment to innovation and user-centric solutions.
With a billion users already leveraging Meta AI across various apps, the introduction of the standalone Meta AI app signifies a strategic move to expand accessibility and enhance user experiences.
