India has always been at the forefront when it comes to developer talent, and now there is a significant opportunity for the country to emerge as a leader in the field of AI, according to OpenAI Global Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) Jason Kwon. Kwon made these remarks during the launch of OpenAI Academy in collaboration with IndiaAI Mission.

India's Position in AI Development
In an interview with PTI, Kwon highlighted that India, with its significant number of ChatGPT users, holds a crucial spot for OpenAI in terms of engagement. He emphasized that India possesses the necessary elements for success. OpenAI is actively seeking partnerships to contribute to the development of AI infrastructure in India.

According to Kwon, India has shown remarkable growth in terms of ChatGPT usage, with a three-fold increase year-over-year. Users in India have demonstrated a high level of creativity, particularly in utilizing tools like the image generator, which has gained immense popularity.

OpenAI is placing a significant bet on India, given the country's history of excelling in developer talent and the current opportunity to lead in AI talent. The launch of OpenAI Academy India, in partnership with IndiaAI Mission under the IT Ministry, marks a milestone as the first international expansion of the ChatGPT-maker's education platform.
