Google to Unveil Next-Gen AI Rival to ChatGPT at I/O 2023: Report
Google is reportedly set to announce the launch of a general-use large language model (LLM), a rival to OpenAI’s chatGPT, at the annual developer I/O 2023 Conference. The conference, to be held on Wednesday, will focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI), with Google unveiling its latest update related to generative AI. According to CNBC, Google will introduce the newest and most advanced LLM, known as PaLM 2, which supports over 100 languages. The model has undergone extensive testing in areas such as coding, math, creative writing, and analysis under the codename "Unified Language Model".
The report further revealed that Google also plans to present updates on improvements in coding, math, and logic capabilities of Bard that will introduce "generative experiences" to support language expansions in Japanese and Korean. Google introduced the PaLM language model last year, and in March 2023 unveiled an API for PaLM and various AI enterprise tools to generate audio, video, images, codes, and text using natural language prompts.
The latest report about Google planning to introduce updates comes amid intensifying competition in the AI industry. Both Microsoft Corp and Google are racing to integrate AI chatbot technology into their offerings, with Microsoft leveraging its OpenAI investment to boost Bing's search engine capabilities.
The Google I/O 2023 Conference, in addition to featuring the latest AI advancements, will also reveal various hardware releases, including the Pixel Fold, the latest Pixel 7a, and the official introduction of the Pixel Tablet.
