I Use ChatGPT to Write Bedtime Stories for My 5-Year-Old

Bedtime routine can be a stressful experience, especially if your child wants a lot of bedtime stories. However, in my household, this is the most important part of the day for both me and my husband, as it is an opportunity to spend quality time doing something creative with our 5-year-old son.

Initially, I read bedtime stories to my son when he was just three months old, even though he did not understand anything from the story. However, over the years, reading bedtime stories has become an essential part of our bedtime routine, and we have moved on from reading simple stories to creating stories from my son's favorite characters.

However, as much as I love being creative, coming up with new and exciting storylines for my son every day is quite challenging. Some days I use plots from Avengers or Star Wars, while other days, I go the classic route with "Jungle Book" or "Ice Age" and integrate the characters into the plot.

As a journalist, I have come across and tested various AI chatbots, and I discovered a new friend - ChatGPT, which has become my go-to solution when I struggle with creative ideas.

Recently, my son requested a story about Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, and himself. I dictated a prompt to ChatGPT, and within seconds, the story was populated. My son was amazed and amazed by this technology that he referred to as "magic." The story was exceptional, and we continued to dictate multiple prompts, giving more details about the characters and the plot of the story.

This helped us get more color into the story and made it a fantastic experience for my son. He couldn't believe "how this robot knows so much" about him. Now the biggest challenge is limiting our bedtime creative exercise to just one story a day.

Overall, ChatGPT has been a life-saver for me and has transformed our bedtime routine. However, we still cherish print books and hope to keep them alive even in the age of AI chatbots like ChatGPT.
