Toys 'R' Us recently unveiled its inaugural commercial utilizing OpenAI's groundbreaking video-to-text technology, Sora. However, the reaction from the online community has been less than enthusiastic. The iconic toy retailer, which ceased operations at all its stores in 2018, began a gradual comeback in 2022 by launching more than 400 outlets within Macy's establishments nationwide.
In an attempt to recapture its former prominence, Toys 'R' Us decided to create a cost-effective advertisement employing Sora AI. While a handful of loyal fans commended the initiative, the majority of social media users were left aghast, labeling the commercial as a "nightmarish hallucination" and "eerie." One individual even pointed out the unsettling visage of the characters, while another, potentially from the film sector, jokingly assured that human employment is secure – at least for the time being.
