Toys 'R' Us recently unveiled its first commercial featuring OpenAI's video-to-text program, Sora. The reaction from the online community has been less than enthusiastic. The iconic toy store, known for its closure in 2018, made a comeback in 2022 by launching more than 400 stores within Macy's locations nationwide. In an attempt to recapture its former fame, Toys 'R' Us decided to create a cost-effective advertisement using Sora Ai.
While some fans acknowledged the effort put into the commercial, the majority of social media users expressed shock and dismay, labeling the ad as a "fever dream" and "uncanny." One individual even pointed out the eerie appearance of the characters, while another, likely from the entertainment industry, humorously mentioned that human employment is safe for the time being.
