ChatGPT Writes Poems to Tell the Time - Raspberry Pi
A clock that tells the time in the most verbose way possible! A new poem is composed every minute using ChatGPT, which sits on maker Matt Webb's bookshelf. The clock utilizes OpenAI's API to communicate with ChatGPT and the Inky wHAT e-ink screen from Pimoroni serves as the clock face. The Raspberry Pi is responsible for powering the Inky wHAT e-ink screen.
While ChatGPT can write imaginative and profound stuff, it sometimes hallucinates and gets the time wrong. This is because it's notoriously loose with fact versus fiction. For instance, asking it about the population living on Mars would result in a humorous response.
Matt would like to give other makers the opportunity to build their own poetic clock. He wishes to explore two options which include:
- Providing a kit for hackers to build their own
- Creating a commercial product that's plug-and-play
The original clock is pre-programmed in ChatGPT to write "imaginative and profound" poetry. However, Matt would like to add a tuning knob to adjust the tone of the poems to better match one's mood. For instance, on days when people are feeling down, they can adjust the tone to produce more macabre language.
Let's take a creativity break and share some of our own two-line poems about the time in the comments section below!
