WhatsApp Readying 'Imagine Me' Feature to Generate Personalised AI Images
WhatsApp has expanded the rollout of its Meta AI chatbot to various markets, including India and the US. The platform is now working on new AI features, with reports suggesting the development of a new "Imagine Me" feature. This feature will allow users to generate AI-generated photos of themselves.
The update was discovered in the latest beta version of WhatsApp for Android via the Google Play Beta app. Feature tracker WABetaInfo found that the company is working on an optional feature that will enable users to create their own images using artificial meta-intelligence. Users may need to upload reference selfies when they first access the feature.
WABetaInfo also revealed evidence of the upcoming AI-powered "Imagine Me" feature in WhatsApp Beta 2.24.14.13 update for Android. This feature is still under development and cannot be tested after installing the beta version on an Android device.
Creating AI Images with Meta AI Chatbot
Users can request Meta AI to generate AI images for them by typing "Imagine me" in the chat window. The feature can also be accessed by typing "@Meta AIimagine me" in other chats. The feature allows users to select backgrounds and locations ranging from forests to outer space to enhance their photos, potentially aiding in creating custom stickers.
According to WABetaInfo, users may have the option to delete uploaded images at any time via Settings. The new AI image generation feature on WhatsApp is optional, and users might have to enable it manually in their settings. This capability could become available in a future update.
Expansion of Meta AI Chatbot
Meta AI's ChatGPT competitor was recently introduced in India. Developed by the in-house model Llama Three Large Language (LLM), the chatbot is not only available on WhatsApp but also on Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger.
