Microsoft to leave Open AI's board - Ground News
Apple was expected to take an observer role on OpenAI's board but decided not to do so, according to a media report. The startup's new approach will prevent Apple from appointing an executive to a similar role. On a similar note, Microsoft has announced its departure from the board of OpenAI, stating that its role is no longer necessary due to the improvements in governance made by the ChatGPT maker following last year's boardroom chaos.
Shifting Dynamics in the Tech Industry
Both Microsoft and Apple have chosen to give up their observer seats on the OpenAI board, as reported by the UK-based 'The Financial Times'. The decision by Microsoft to step down from the board reflects changing dynamics within the tech industry. Microsoft had taken a non-voting, observer position on OpenAI's board in November last year, following the reinstatement of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman.
