Role of a Data Scientist:
The primary responsibility of a Data Scientist is to deploy, fine-tune, and monitor production machine learning models in a production environment. Additionally, they provide essential support in data extraction, transformation and load (ETL), data mapping, analytics, operations, databases, and maintenance of data and associated systems. The role demands experience with the principles of data science, data modeling, data mapping, data testing, data quality, and documentation preparation. Data Scientists work in a fast-paced environment that requires multitasking and a focus on process improvement.
Impact of a Data Scientist:
A Data Scientist plays a vital role in creating and maintaining custody of production machine learning models across various tasks such as audio extraction, object recognition, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and generic classification tasks. They optimize existing machine learning services, deploy models against streaming data for real-time analytics, and collaborate with data engineers to improve data architecture decisions. Data Scientists are also involved in translating data insights into tools that inform operational decisions, applying machine learning methodologies to build prediction models, and working with various databases and GPU processing.
Required Skills:
Technical skills required for this role include proficiency in Python, Cuda, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Apache Kafka, REST architecture, Open-AI, LLMs, NLP, YOLO/Object Recognition, Whisper/Audio processing, and more. Additionally, experience with relational databases (SQL, Oracle) and NoSQL databases (Elasticsearch, Neo4J, Redis), GPU processing, machine learning methodologies, server operating systems, and Source code management is necessary. Familiarity with Data Science frameworks and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are also essential.
Qualifications for Success:
To succeed in this role, candidates must hold an active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance, fifteen years of related data science/statistical experience, three years of software engineering or data engineering experience, and a degree in Engineering or a related field. Strong organizational, coordination, interpersonal, and team-building skills are vital for success in this role.
