Scarlett Johansson 'shocked and angered' after claiming ChatGPT sounded like her
Scarlett Johansson recently expressed her shock and anger after discovering that Open AI’s ChatGPT voice sounded eerily similar to hers. The renowned actress had initially declined an offer to lend her voice to the AI system named Sky. However, upon hearing the voice that was ultimately used, she couldn't believe the striking resemblance.
In a statement, Scarlett revealed, "When I heard the released demo, I was shocked, angered and in disbelief that Mr. Altman would pursue a voice that sounded so eerily similar to mine that my closest friends and news outlets could not tell the difference."
Open AI's Response
Open AI, in response to the concerns raised by Scarlett Johansson, has agreed to remove the voice. They clarified that the voice of Sky was actually that of a different voice actress and any similarities to Scarlett's voice were purely unintentional. In a blog post, Open AI stated, "Sky’s voice is not an imitation of Scarlett Johansson but belongs to a different professional actress using her own natural speaking voice."
Protecting Privacy
To safeguard the privacy of the voice actress involved, Open AI refrained from disclosing her identity. They emphasized the importance of AI voices not deliberately mimicking the distinctive voices of celebrities.
