Sberbank's AI Chatbot GigaChat set to take on ChatGPT

Sberbank Launches GigaChat as a Competitor to ChatGPT

Russian lender Sberbank announced on Monday that it has released a new technology named GigaChat that competes with ChatGPT. Initially, this technology will only be available in invite-only test mode. GigaChat will be joining the race for creating artificial intelligence chatbots.

The release of ChatGPT, a chatbot pioneered by OpenAI, which is backed by Microsoft, in the previous year has caused a spike in the technology sector, as these AI chatbots are being introduced in the market to be more accessible to the general public. The purpose is to revolutionize the way people work and conduct business.

According to Sberbank's statement, GigaChat has the unique ability to interact more intelligently in Russian than other foreign neural networks. As Russia's dominant bank, Sberbank has invested heavily in technology over the past few years with the hope of reducing the country's reliance on imports, particularly since Western countries have ceased exporting to Russia and imposed punitive sanctions over Moscow's actions in Ukraine.
