Say Hello to ChatGPT, Snapchat's New AI Chatbot!

Snapchat introduces Chatbot powered by ChatGPT for all Users

Snapchat, the popular multimedia messaging app, has announced the availability of its AI-powered customizable chatbot, My AI, to all users on the app. The newly introduced tool is integrated with ChatGPT, a viral AI chatbot, which was previously available to only Snapchat+ subscribers.

My AI can provide quick recommendations, answer queries, help users make plans, and even create a haiku within seconds. Users can include the chatbot in their conversations with friends by mentioning "@MyAI." The bot can be personalized further by giving it a name and customizing a Bitmoji avatar.

OpenAI created ChatGPT, which gained wide recognition since its release in November 2022. The AI chatbot stunned users with a remarkable ability to generate original essays, song lyrics, and stories based on prompts from users. The chatbot has prompted tech companies to develop and incorporate similar AI tools into their products.

While the addition of ChatGPT features to Snapchat is expected to enhance user interaction, it also comes with potential risks. As the tool is trained on vast troves of online data, it can spread inaccurate information and respond to users in ways they might find inappropriate. To this end, Snapchat has been working on improving its AI by making changes to safeguard users from harmful responses.

In a blog post, Snapchat acknowledged the imperfections of its AI chatbot, but it has made significant progress with a 99.5% conformance to its community guidelines. The company has implemented moderation technology and added it to its in-app parental tools to protect users.

The chatbot feature allows various companies to experiment with adding ChatGPT functionality to their products. While these services test how useful AI chatbots can be in our everyday life for customer service and other uses, users will determine the extent to which they want to interact with them.
