Meta AI Can Now 'Remember' What You Tell It Across Apps | PCMag
Meta AI has introduced new updates to its Meta AI chatbot, allowing it to "remember" information shared across Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp. This feature, known as "Memory," enables Meta AI to retain specific details shared in 1:1 chats and utilize this information to provide more personalized responses in the future.
The first of the two features announced is the "Memory" feature. When interacting with Meta AI, if you request recipes and receive suggestions for ingredients you do not consume, you can inform the chatbot about your dietary preferences. Subsequently, Meta AI will update its "Memory" and tailor future recommendations to align with your preferences.
Meta AI only retains information shared in 1:1 conversations (not group chats), and users have the option to delete this stored data at any time. To delete Memory on Messenger, users can tap the information bubble on the top right in their chat with Meta AI, select Memory, and choose the data to delete. Additionally, users can utilize the "/reset-ai" command on Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
Enhanced Recommendations Through Activity Monitoring
To further enhance recommendations, Meta AI will now monitor user activity on Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram. For instance, if you inquire about weekend activities, Meta AI can access your location on Facebook, review recent Instagram Reels you have watched, and utilize family details stored in "Memory" to create a personalized weekend plan.
These updates are now available to all Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram users in the US and Canada. Meta's initiative follows the success of DeepSeek, a Chinese company whose AI assistant app recently surged in popularity on the Apple App Store.
