Samsung has officially announced that the upcoming Galaxy S25 series will introduce enhanced Galaxy AI features, a result of the ongoing collaboration with Google. These advanced AI capabilities are expected to extend to the anticipated Galaxy S24 FE model, currently under development. The specifics of this upcoming device, including its potential codename, have started to surface.
Insights from Samsung Electronics’ Executive Director
In a recent discussion forum, Cho Cheol-min, the Executive Director of Samsung Electronics' System LSI division, disclosed details about the Galaxy S25 series. He highlighted that the new Galaxy AI features will be powered by Google's upcoming Gemini Nano 2 Large Language Model (LLM). The focus will be on leveraging on-device AI capabilities. This information was shared in an article by South Korea's Daum Herald Economy.
While the exact nature of these AI enhancements remains undisclosed, a previous report suggests that certain features could be part of a subscription-based model.
Exploring the Galaxy S24 FE
Notably, industry insiders have uncovered the potential codename for the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, referred to as 'R12'. Drawing from historical references, the Galaxy S20 FE was known as 'R8', followed by the 'R9' for the S21 FE, and 'R11' for the S23 FE. This naming convention hints at the upcoming release of the S24 FE as 'R12'.
The Galaxy S23 FE made its debut in October 2023, and according to Galaxy Club, the successor is likely to be launched in late fall of 2024 or early 2025. However, given Samsung's irregular track record with the FE series, it is advisable to approach this information with caution.
