Gemini Now Lets Users Create Custom AI-Powered Automations in...
Google is beginning to roll out its first Gemini integrations with Google Home, bringing the tech giant’s next-generation AI model to its smart home ecosystem along with new features designed to make the experience more intuitive.
For now, the AI features are coming to cameras and clips history, a new automation creation feature, a Google Home extension in the Gemini app, and more. Other updates include a Google Home extension for the Gemini app, camera and doorbell feeds on a Pixel Watch and Tablets, a Home panel screen saver for Pixel Tablet, a Home panel on Google TV devices, AI-powered content summaries on Google TV devices, and more.
Help Me Create Feature
One feature that Google has been talking about for a while is the Help Me Create feature, a Gemini-powered tool that allows users to simply describe the automation they want to create using natural language. The system will then create the automations with no extra input from the user needed. Google will also offer some personalized suggestions based on devices and how users use them. The tool is rolling out to a “small group” of Nest Aware Plus subscribers in Public Preview later this year, the company says, and will be only available in the U.S. to start.
Google Expands Gemini Home Presence While Alexa AI Launch Gets Pushed Back
Google is also rolling out a ton of AI features to its Nest security cameras, including AI descriptions in camera clips that offer detailed descriptions of what happened in the clip, and users can also search their camera history with natural language questions like “Did the kids play in the backyard this afternoon?” or “Was a delivery truck here today?” Those features are available only on the Nest Cam (outdoor or indoor, battery), Nest Cam with floodlight, Nest Cam (indoor, wired, 2nd gen), Nest Doorbell (battery), Nest Doorbell (wired, 2nd gen), and 1st-gen Nest Cams that have been transferred to the Home app. Users of Google’s Secure Nest Aware Plus can now opt in to test those features in the Google Home app.
