However, OpenAI's ChatGPT has recently implemented changes to its policies regarding Ghibli-style photos inspired by Studio Ghibli. Users are now restricted from utilizing real-world images to generate Ghibli-style photos using OpenAI's ChatGPT. 
Previously, users could create Ghibli-style images by inputting real-life photos into ChatGPT. However, the image generator now displays a notification stating its inability to generate Ghibli-style images based on real people or photographs. This policy update is a result of the new guidelines prohibiting the creation of images of real individuals.
Changes in Policy and Guidelines
OpenAI's recent decision signifies a shift towards stricter guidelines, especially concerning the recreation of real artists' styles. Some speculate that this adjustment aims to prevent potential copyright infringements facilitated by AI tools.
An OpenAI spokesperson emphasized the company's cautious approach in various scenarios, particularly when replicating the style of known artists. This move towards more stringent regulations may serve to protect intellectual property rights within the realm of AI-generated content.
Despite the restrictions on real-world images, users can still create Ghibli-style pictures by providing additional creative input. This may include specifying elements such as hairstyle, clothing, background, mood, or any other unique details to guide the image generation process.
Delays in Service Launch
Furthermore, OpenAI has postponed the launch of its image generator service for free users due to overwhelming demand. CEO Sam Altman acknowledged the unexpected surge in popularity of the service, leading to temporary delays for users accessing it free of charge. 
Sam Altman tweeted, urging restraint in image generation activities to allow the team sufficient time for rest amidst the high demand for the service.
