Role Overview
The Data Scientist role involves deploying, fine-tuning, and monitoring production machine learning models in a live environment. In addition to this, the responsibilities also include providing support in data extraction, transformation and load (ETL), data mapping, analytics, operations, databases, and overall maintenance of data systems. This mission-focused role demands experience with data science principles, data modeling, testing, quality assurance, and documentation preparation.
How a Data Scientist Contributes
Here are some key ways in which a Data Scientist can make a significant impact:
- Create and maintain custody of production machine learning models for various tasks such as audio extraction, object recognition, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and other classification tasks.
- Optimize existing machine learning services to maximize GPU capabilities and assist in future GPU requirements.
- Deploy machine learning models for real-time analytics against streaming data to enhance decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with data engineers to improve data architecture decisions for continuous training models in production.
Required Technical Skills
The ideal candidate should possess the following technical skills:
- Proficiency in Python, Cuda, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Apache Kafka, REST architecture, Open-AI, LLMs, NLP, YOLO/Object Recognition, and Whisper/Audio processing.
- Experience in translating data insights into tools that inform operational decisions.
- Deployment of machine learning models for real-time analytics.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:
- 15+ years of related data science/statistical experience and 3+ years of software engineering or data engineering experience.
- Bachelor’s or Technology degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent job-related experience.
- TS/SCI with SCI Poly clearance.
