Zoho CEO Sridhar Vembu Launches New 'Private Browser' in India

Zoho Corporation, led by CEO Sridhar Vembu, has launched a new privacy-centered browser called Ulaa. The browser is designed to focus on keeping user data safe and private with pre-built capabilities that universally block tracking and website surveillance. It comes equipped with features that allow for privacy customization, user profile modes, and integrated productivity tools.

The company has stated that most browsers on the market today are designed to protect respective company's ad-based business models and surveillance companies, which runs counter to protecting user privacy. However, Ulaa has ad and data tracking blockers that prevent unauthorized push notifications, pop-ups, and time tracking, aiming to protect users against online tracking, surveillance, and identity theft. The browser also disables the API that allows websites to connect and communicate with devices connected to the computer or Wi-Fi network.

The desktop version of Ulaa is available for download, and the iOS and Android versions are currently in beta but can be downloaded from the Play Store and App Store. Ulaa is free for all users.

Zoho Corporation has also launched 13 generative AI Zoho application extensions and integrations that have been powered by ChatGPT. These AI features will provide users with a more intuitive, efficient, and secure experience, reflecting Zoho's deep R&D-first culture.

In addition, Zoho is developing proprietary Learning Language Models (LLMs) capable of conversing, summarizing, paraphrasing, and adapting to new tasks with 'zero-shot' learning techniques for AI-driven communication and knowledge discovery.

The launch of Ulaa comes after Vembu submitted a proposal with Rajiv Kumar, former Niti Aayog vice chairman, and Sharad Sharma, co-founder of iSPIRT Foundation to the central government, asking to establish an AI policy that prioritizes openness and transparency.
