OpenAI to Launch ChatGPT for Enterprise - Tech Monitor

OpenAI, the AI research company backed by Microsoft, is launching a new version of its natural language AI platform, ChatGPT, for enterprise users in the upcoming months. The new version of this popular tool will have greater privacy protections for user data. A suite of privacy protections has been launched within ChatGPT, including the ability to block the use of chat to retrain the model, to counteract the concerns of data regulators in Europe and other regions. The enterprise version of ChatGPT is expected to have similar data governance rules applied to the API in a business environment.

The details of the enterprise version of ChatGPT, including pricing, additional features, and control over guardrails, have not been revealed yet. Tech Monitor is expecting more information from OpenAI.

ChatGPT has become a powerful tool for many industries since its launch in November 2022. It is one of the fastest-growing consumer apps in history, reaching millions of monthly active users in just a few months. This rapid success has led to intense scrutiny over the handling of data in both the training and content generation process. Recently, Italy's data protection watchdog ordered OpenAI to stop processing Italian user data, causing the tool to be blocked in the country. Other countries in the EU are considering similar actions, and the US is also exploring ways to regulate large-language model AI tools.

To address these concerns, OpenAI has introduced new tools within the web app that give users more control over their data and how it is being used. This includes a new "incognito mode" that turns off chat history for a particular conversation. Conversations that are started when chat history is disabled will not be used to train and improve the models, and they will not appear in the history sidebar. Disabling chat history provides an easier way to manage your data than the existing opt-out process, as OpenAI will retain new conversations for 30 days and review them only when needed to monitor for abuse, before permanently deleting them.

The idea is to create a subscription model for professionals who need more control over their data and enterprises that want to manage accounts for multiple users. When the new business version is launched, using conversations to train models will be disabled by default. OpenAI uses data to make models more helpful rather than for selling services, advertising, or building profiles of people.
