Meta META slips 1.11% as German court refuses to block AI training on Facebook and Instagram data. Shares of Meta fell just over 1% after Verbraucherzentrale NRW lost its bid for a preliminary injunction aimed at stopping the company from using EU user posts to train its AI models. In April, Meta announced it would begin tapping interactions and public adult content on Facebook and Instagram for model training, having postponed similar plans last year amid regulatory uncertainty.

Europe, Meet Your Newest Assistant: Meta AI

This follows March's rollout of Meta's AI chatbot service in Europe after a year-long delay. An Austrian group, noyb, also sought an injunction earlier this month over the same data-use plans. Meta said navigating the EU's complex regulatory system took longer than expected but that it was glad we're finally here, underscoring its push to bolster AI capabilities on the continent.
