Google Rolls Out 'Gems' in Gemini | Sep, 2024 | Generative AI
It’s been almost a year since OpenAI released its customizable GPTs, which are personalized versions of ChatGPT tailored for specific tasks. For example, ‘Dall-E’ is a custom GPT designed to generate AI images, while a “Creative Writing Coach” GPT offers feedback and guidance to help improve your writing skills.
Introducing 'Gems' by Google
Today, Google has rolled out a similar feature within its Gemini ecosystem, and they are calling it ‘Gems.’ Gems were first previewed at Google’s I/O 2024 developers’ conference in May and are now available to Gemini Advanced, Business, and Enterprise users in over 150 countries. These Gems are accessible on both desktop and mobile devices, aiming to give users more control over their AI interactions.
Gems allow you to customize Gemini to create your own personal AI experts on any topic you can think of. For instance, if you want a chatbot optimized to generate ideas for a product, you simply create a Gem and instruct it to brainstorm five ideas whenever prompted. You can create any Gem you want, whether it be a writing assistant, image generator, gym buddy, recipe creator, and more. Essentially, you create a “Gem” by defining its behavior and functions, then deploy it to help with whatever task you have in mind.
Generative AI is evolving rapidly, offering users more personalized and adaptable AI tools to enhance their workflows and creativity.
