Volkswagen unleashes ChatGPT-powered IDA voice assistant ...
Volkswagen has introduced ChatGPT to its latest infotainment system, bringing cutting-edge artificial intelligence to the forefront. This technology is now available in the electric ID. family and the newest Golf, Tiguan, and Passat models.
Enhanced Driving Experience

The integration of ChatGPT into Volkswagen's IDA voice assistant allows drivers to have natural language conversations with their vehicles, transforming them into intelligent companions. Whether seeking information on tourist attractions, sports trivia, or assistance with math problems, drivers can now interact hands-free while focusing on the road.
Kai Grunitz, Volkswagen's Board Member for Development, emphasizes the company's commitment to making advanced technology accessible to a broad audience. By incorporating ChatGPT into their vehicles, Volkswagen aims to provide drivers with AI capabilities that were previously exclusive to tech enthusiasts.
Advanced Capabilities
Volkswagen's IDA voice assistant already enables drivers to control infotainment, navigation, and climate systems. With the addition of ChatGPT, the assistant's functionality is elevated. Drivers can now ask complex questions, engage in conversations, and receive accurate responses, all powered by ChatGPT's language processing capabilities.

Users of VW Connect/VW Connect Plus do not require additional access or apps to use this feature. Simply saying "Hello IDA" or pressing the steering wheel button activates the assistant. Volkswagen ensures data privacy by anonymizing and promptly deleting queries sent to ChatGPT, safeguarding sensitive vehicle information and user confidentiality.
Multi-Lingual Support

The system currently supports five languages: English (US and UK), Spanish, Czech, and German, thanks to a collaboration with Cerence Inc, a prominent automotive AI solutions provider.
While some may question the necessity of conversing with their cars, Volkswagen's integration of ChatGPT opens up new possibilities for drivers. Despite initial skepticism, the technology offers a more interactive and personalized driving experience.
