Mark Zuckerberg Takes Dana White Bromance To Next Level ...
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) CEO, Dana White, continues to add more to his overflowing plate. In a surprising move today (Mon., Jan. 6, 2025), Meta (a.k.a. Facebook) announced via press release that White and two others (John Elkann, CEO of Exor and Charlie Songhurst, former Microsoft corporate strategist) have been elected to the company’s board of directors. This partnership brings Mark Zuckerberg — co-founder and CEO of Meta — and White, together again, this time in a working relationship ... and he is happy about it.
Meta's New Additions
“Dana, John, and Charlie will add a depth of expertise and perspective that will help us tackle the massive opportunities ahead with AI, wearables, and the future of human connection,” Meta’s CEO said in the press release.
Zuckerberg's MMA Passion
Zuckerberg — who is a die-hard mixed martial arts (MMA) fan (and Brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt) — has attended several UFC events, such as UFC 300. He even rented out UFC’s Apex venue in 2022 to watch the “Fight Night” without a crowd. Last year, White enlisted Zuckerberg’s Meta AI to help with UFC’s “broken” rankings system that drove UFC’s head honcho nuts all year. Nevertheless, White is excited to be on the board of directors to help his pal.
Dana White's Excitement
“I’ve never been interested in joining a board of directors until I got the offer to join Meta’s board. I am a huge believer that social media and AI are the future,” White said. “I am very excited to join this incredible team and to learn more about this business from the inside. There is nothing I love more than building brands, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level,” White concluded.
Maybe now they can figure out a way to make the biggest fight of all-time time. Or not.
